Getting to Know KorPunGun
KorPunGun Center for Overseas Education (KPG – ก้อปันกัน) provides services to those interested in studying abroad in the United States of America and Canada as well as those interested in studying English language programs in the Philippines and Australia.
KorPunGun shares information and offers advices in accordance with needs and interests of students. We put the emphasis on three things including 1) Transparency of information, 2) Respect for differences and diversity, and 3) Care for students’ learning and development.
In 2014, KorPunGun was founded as an ordinary partnership, and upgraded to a limited company in 2017 by Mr. Kanpong “Gun” Thaweesuk . Kanpong is Shoreline Community College’s alumni where he studied two Associate of Arts degrees in Business and Individualized plans. At Shoreline, he served the student body as an International Peer Mentor and the Student Body President.
We desire to provide services to students interested in studying overseas by sharing student experiences and knowledge of different education system and different culture. We also promote sharing of experiences to support self-awareness, multicultural understanding and development of cultural skills and competency.

Our History
The Beginning (2013 – 2014)
With the knowledge and understanding from first-hand experience in community college, KorPunGun began providing information and services regarding to studying community college in Washington and Oregon, USA. Community college is a higher education institute run by the US government which welcomes students from all walks of life, giving them the opportunity to study in whatever programs they prefer. It is also a good starting point for international students who are interested to study in America because community college gives importance to the learning and teaching process, has 50 – 70% less tuition fee comparing to universities in the US, has an average of 20 – 25 students per class and has a department which exclusively deals with international students.
The Present (2015 – now)
At the present, KorPunGun has been expanding its network of institutions to provide more choices for the various needs of the students. This includes more community colleges, 4 year universities and high schools in different States of America and Canada as well as intensive English courses in the Philippines as well as Australia.

XB Education
While studying abroad, students inevitably experience cultural differences in some ways. Some may have less impact on their emotions like how people greet to one another and how people dress. Some may require slight adjustments, for example, food people eat, different weather, and different ways to transport. And there are things that will have significant impact on their emotions because of different in beliefs and values that different culture holds – for example, the understanding and attitude toward the concept of self-reliance, the concept of the past, present and the future, group behaviors, how to resolve issues relating to age, sex, gender, class and so forth. These differences can be both challenges and opportunities at the same time for study abroaders to learn and develop themselves. It is important for them to be able to make understanding of situations and find informed and conscious ways to overcome. By doing so, their studying abroad experiences will surely be worthwhile and meaningful.
KorPunGun has developed a project called, Cross Border (XB) Education [การศึกษานอกกรอบ] with the purpose to provide support for study abroaders by providing sets of knowledge and experiences related to cultural differences and multicultural understanding. By providing knowledge and understanding, we hope that our students will be able to adjust to unfamiliarity and learn to develop cultural skills and competency.
